Born in India he was brought up and lived most of his life in Devonshire. From Miss Lowler July 26. The burgundy colour ribbed-cloth covered hardcover with impressed decoration to the front and gilt titles to the front and spine, is lightly bumped at the edges and lightly rubbed on the extremities mainly the spine-ends, sound and not split, a little sunned to the spine, gilt bright to the front and dulled to the spine with both titles clearly legible, otherwise generally clean and tidy (see photo's 1 & 5).
