Within months of entering the war with the Japanese, 22,000 Australians had become prisoners of war. From 1942 until August 1945 they suffered extremes of slavery, barbarity and deprivation. Yet despite this the Australians also managed to build theatres, organise concerts and plays, hold sporting events as well as provide libraries and canteens. This 'diary' tells some of the stories of that period of history. No dust jacket. Maroon boards with white titles are in good condition with light wear. Internal pages are clean and unmarked.
