This is the story of the 8th Battalion The Durham Light Infantry in the Second World War. The Battalion mobilized on 1st September 1939. It went on the fight in France and Belgium 1940, North Africa, Sicily and North West Europe. The Battalion landed as part of the second wave on King Beach D-Day 6th June 1944.
