From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - With dedication by the author. - A good and clean copy. - From the text: When Francis Nicholson, former governor of the colony of Virginia, died on 5 March, 1728, he bequeathed to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts (now the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel) a lifetimes accumulation of valuable papers. Among these documents were copies of two Latin compositions by a student of the fledgling College of William and Marya short Latin quitrent poem and a Latin oration which the author, John Shelton, titles a munusculum, or little gift. The copy of the poem was purchased in 1943 by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation from William H. Robertson Ltd.
