From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of the ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - With dedication by the author. - Source handwritten on first page, otherwise clean. - From the text: The Polish-Dutch Mission excavating at Palmyra in the middle of the Syrian desert, discovered during its 1975-77 campaign, the sanctuary of the Arab goddess Allat, situated in the western quarter of the city known as Diocletian's Camp. The sanctuary consists of a walled sacred area with porticoes, in the center of which the temple proper stands. One enters the sacred area, the temenos, from the east side through a monumental gate, in front of which there are six columns. To the north of these propylaea stands an honorific column.
