…… Measuring 16” tall, including the 4 3/4” tall red marble base, this Bronze depicts a pretty Victorian woman with a fur pelt draped over her right shoulder. She has a large bow in the front with applied gold gilt roses. This Antique Bronze Bust is signed on the side “C. Kauba.” Carl Kauba (1865 - 1922) is known for his Western and Native American Bronzes, however, when researching, we did find a few other bronzes similar to this example. This bronzer is also marked “J. Kalmar” which is the foundry located in Vienna, Austria where this Bronze was cast. Founded by Julius August Kalmar in 1881 it is renowned for its production of high-quality cast bronze objects, often in collaboration with prominent architects and designers.
