Aristide Maillol Skulptur französische Maquette Gips beschriftet 30er 40er Jahre
This is primarily a wonderful little antique plaster maquette of a woman draped across a pedestal. What makes it highly intriguing is that it is inscribed to base “A Maillol” for, I assume, French titan of sculpture, Aristide Maillol (1861-1944). It certainly bears some resemblance to his works, though I cannot immediately see a bronze of this maquette. I don’t know where this came from, whether it’s a maquette from his atelier etc. but it’s a lovely, intriguing piece and worthy of research. Condition-wise, it bears some scars but it’s not bad at all. Please see photos and get in touch if I can assist. No reserve. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aristide_Maillol Maquette Plaster Inscribed. Rodin
