CROPREDY BRIDGE 1644 The Campaign & Battle, Toynbee & Young. Englischer Bürgerkrieg
CROPREDY BRIDGE 1644 The Campaign and the Battle Doctor MARGARET TOYNBEE & Brigadier PETER YOUNG THE ROUNDWOOD PRESS 1970 1st edition. 24 x 16 cm. xv + 156 pp + colour frontispiece + 28 plates (1 colour) + 2 maps. HB/DJ The campaign was productive of dramatic incidents, notably the celebrated night march of King Charles from Oxford, when he stole Sir William Waller's thunder and made good his escape to the West. Nevertheless, he was closely pursued, and the twists and turns of the Royal hare make exciting reading. Waller's naive indignation at his repeated frustrations in his efforts to catch the King afford a touch of light relief, as does his chagrin at the capture of his precious guns at Cropredy. Cropredy Bridge is based upon a variety of contemporary sources.
