A beautiful reproduction chart of a cross stitch sampler from my collection. A Welsh sampler from 1878 by Ann Griffiths with a beautiful collection of motifs worked in 22 colours ( DMC) . The sampler is 199 x 222 stitches. It will look best on a natural linen colour so that the lighter colours show up well. An unusual feature of this lovely folk art sampler is that the original stitcher worked her name sideways to fit it in . The result is charming.
