Text in Japanese and English. - Oban Nishikie Triptych - (Unregistered) The prints of this series, "Customs of the Twelve Months," were designed by Toyohiro and Toyokuni, who studied together under Toyoharu. The present triptych, depicting New Year's customs, was done by Toyokuni. In this design, Toyokuni depicts the street performers of the lion dance and jugglery, while gaily dressed girls and children watch the performance. A battledore held by one of the girls, a kite flying on the left-hand sheet and other New Year's paraphernalia enhance the festive mood of street scenery.
