This is a commemorative plate produced by Edwardian Fine China to mark passing of Deep Navigation Colliery in Treharris near Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. It operated from 1879 until closure in 1991 and produced 9,000 tons of coal a week and employed over 2,000 people at its peak. This plate is in perfect condition and shows the colliery with a gold border on the rim. On the reverse side is a brief history of the mine. It's a fitting tribute to the lives of so many people and it was produced for the colliery.
