Leaflet slightly bumped at the lower edge in the fold, art print very good. Text in Japanese and English. - O-Oban Beni-e - (Important Art Object) Toyonobu died in 1785 at the age of seventy-five. During his long life, he experienced more personal sorrow than most men. At the age of six, Toyonobu lost his father, and later, within a seven-year period, suffered the death of his mother and two foster parents. He had five children, most of whom died at an early age. Despite these family misfortunes, he possessed a warmhearted and well-balanced personality. A pupil of Nishimura Shigenaga, his first artist's name was Shigenobu. It is recorded that throughout his life he never frequented the pleasure houses.
