The title of the disc is a reference by pianist and jazz persona Evan Lurie to a period during which he composed a number of scores for low-budget films. Many of these are represented here, including Danny Leiner's Layin' Low, which has a reflective, smoky jazz score that rolls with a strong vibraphone jive, and New York University student Hannah Weyer's The Salesman and Other Adventures, which is backed by a clarinet and cello duet exuding both longing and pensiveness.
