The criminal trials assessed in this book illustrate the development of the law of insanity in relation to trials for murder since the beginning of the nineteenth century. It assess the trial in 1800 of James Hadfield who attempted to shoot King George III, the trial in 1843 of Daniel M'Naughton who shot Sir Robert Peel's secretary mistaking him for the Prime Minister, the trial in 1952 of John Straffen and the trial in 1959 of Gunther Podola which considered the issue of amnesia. Dust jacket is in very good condition with minor bumps and soiling. Black boards with red titles to spine are in excellent condition with minor wear to edges. Internal pages are clean and unmarked.
