Trumpeter Louis Smith was an exciting up-and-coming hard bop player in the 1950's, released two excellent discs on Blue Note, but then went into teaching. Smith is firmly in the continuum of bop brass-masters Clifford Brown and Fats Navarro, and most of HERE is his originals.
