Geschichten von Pionierfriedhöfen in Phoenix, AZ, 19. Jahrhundert Phoenix Geschichte

14,22 €

The first town plat of Phoenix, Arizona in 1870 contained 98 blocks and a number of streets and alleys, but no area designated for burial of the dead. Lacking oversight, the first pioneer burial ground in town was soon regarded as an eyesore and a disgrace to the growing city. In 1884, a group of cemeteries established near the edge of town served the population's needs until 1914. This book looks at the politics and personalities behind the founding of the earliest European style cemeteries in Phoenix and their eventual preservation by the Pioneers' Cemetery Association as Pioneer & Military Memorial Park. Proceeds to benefit the Pioneers' Cemetery Association, a non-profit organization with IRS 501(c)(3) status.
