This portfolio is a very scarce binder form dated 1904 first edition of six chromolithographed plates, produced from the original paintings by Howard Carter. Entitled "SIX PORTRAITS OF THE THOTMES FAMILY FACSIMILED FROM THE TEMPLE OF DEIR EL BAHARI”, it was published as a limited edition by McLagan & Cumming in 1904 and is an original copy. It measures 13” by 10”. The exterior is water stained, misshapen and damaged with a broken binding ribbon but the plates (NB not signed by Howard Carter) are in very good condition, as is the interior of the folder. Two only have been sold in recent years at leading auction houses for well over £1500. Please see all photos.
