The results are an original, unusual mixture of Tortoise's subtle, dubby grooves and The Ex's angular, hard-hitting, guitar-driven attack. There's more urgency here than on any of Tortoise's previous recordings, but the complex textural palette that is the Tortoise trademark is nevertheless well represented.
