Hardback book in dustwrapper "King Cotton" by Thomas Armstrong, published by Collins in 1947. Unclipped dustwrapper in poor condition,with lower outer corner torn away on back panel, back inner flap separated but still present, front panel has some creasing and small tears to the edges, the spine slightly more so. Bumping to spine ends and corners of blue boards, fading to the back where dustwrapper has been torn, but otherwise a not too bad copy of this hard-cover novel. The story, by the author of "The Crowthers of Bankdam", is set in mid nineteenth century Lancashire when the cotton industry was in trouble due to the shortage of cotton from America because of the Civil War.. 928pp.
