Out of print 1989 Pierre Verany CD of five 20th-century works for string orchestra, one of them a rarity and the others rather well known (one is very famous). The emotional core of the work is the third prelude, "Le Supplice", a frenetic work at a Bartok-quartet level of dissonance, but very different in harmony -- those are French, rather like those of Honegger.
