Joe McPhee and Peter Brötzmann first heard each other one night in October, 1977, in Paris, at the Rouen Jazz Action. A few years ago they co-led a quartet for a single concert with a rhythm section of Noel Kupersmith on bass and Chad Taylor on drums, McPhee exclusively playing alto saxophone.
