Gebraucht, aber gut erhalten. - It is a simple observation to make, but it is often forgotten, that all art takes place within society, that art practice is a social phenomena and that it originated as an expressive network between people. Therefore it would seem obvious to add that most art practice reflects the norms, values and beliefs of the society in which it took place, and in looking at much contemporary European art practice it is clear that much of it is indeed a reinforcement, amplification and ultimately a projection of what are its social parameters. But that is not to say those parameters are static, that values are set in stone, and things can't change, or that art practice cannot be seeking to change those values and beliefs.
