Miscellanea Curiosa Vol 1 & 2. Published 1726 and 1723. Vol 1 was rebound about 40 years ago and among the illustrations is Sir Edmund Halley's pull out map of the world showing the variation in the compass and showing the trade winds. On the map it shows Baja California as an island!!!!!! Vol 1 also has the discourse of Sir Isaac Newton on the refraction of light. Vol 2 is in what is probably the original binding and the some of the early pages show signs of water damage. Both volumes seem to have all the illustrations present. They are some of the abstracts of journals submitted to the Royal Society by such luminaries such as Isaac Newton, Halley, Hodgson, De Moivre, Wallis, etc.
