This is a pair of excellent volumes from the New York State Museum in 1909 and 1912 featuring 'Birds of New York' with the complete set of 106 coloured plates by Louis Agassis Fuertes. This superb volumes are packed full of facts and figures of the species dwelling in New York in the very early 20th Century. The Fuertes plates are in exceptional condition, all present with no tears in superbly clean condition with bright clean pages and no foxing. The plates in volume 2 (43-106) have a small embossed stamp to the margins for the previous owner, the University of Liverpool, however, these are only noticeable upon close inspection.
