The Battle of Mine Creek was the largest Civil War conflict fought in Kansas. It took place on October 25, 1864, in Linn County, Kansas, during Major General Sterling Price’s Missouri Campaign, and was a decisive victory for the Union forces led by General Alfred Pleasanton. General Price had begun an expedition in September 1864 to restore Confederate control of Missouri.
