A collection of old heroic ballads, songs and other pieces of some of the earliest English poets which were collected and edited by Thomas Percy from mutilated and incomplete ancient manuscripts. The collection was originally published in 1765 and this is a late 19th century edition edited by J. V. Prichard in two volumes. Only volume one is now offered for sale. Green boards with gilt titles to spine are in overall good condition with bumps to corners and some rubbing to edges. Paper splitting to front board and main body as per photo. Internal pages are clean and unmarked. Paper splitting to rear board hinge with main body as per photo.
