Surrounded by sympathetic, like-minded musicians, particularly the frontline soloists Blue Mitchell, Nat Adderley and Jimmy Heath, he also had the benefit of a fine, responsive rhythm section anchored by Louis Hayes and the soulful Bobby Timmons.
