Loose bolt type shield anchors (Rawlbolt type) Product information Shield anchors are heavy duty fixings, these are often used in industry & construction and can be used in concrete, brick or stone. They are also sized differently from through bolts & sleeve anchors. The first size M6, M8, M10 or M12 relates to the bolt size and hole needed to be drilled through the material you are fixing to, not the hole size in the substrate you need to drill. The second dimension also differs as it relates to the maximum fixing thickness of the item you are bolting down. So a M12 x 25 is for example a steel plate with a 12mm hole that is no deeper than 25mm.
