The base used on several Skoda and Seat models, identified as having a small cut-out or recess on the upper trailing top edge of the base as shown in the picture, has an aerial that is designed to allow the mast to be unscrewed and then angled back and laid flat against the roof so the mast is captive and less likely to be stolen, but still allows removal for use of automated car washes etc.
