When Dennis Mallory, Bay City photographer, returns to his studio one evening he finds his wife Anne threatened by three men apparently bent on stealing the day's takings. When Anne catches sight of the face of one of them, she is killed and after a fight Dennis is left for dead though in fact he is only blinded. His suspicion that the men were not mere robbers and his desire for vengeance make him determined to track them down in spite of his disability and the discouragement of detective chief Baker.
