A perfect copy. - Suppl.: Plan of the entire complex, aerial view on the reverse, 34*26 cm. - From the text: The Dessau-Törten Estate was built from 1926 to 1 928 according to designs laid out by the founder of the Bauhaus, Walter Gropius. With a building volume of 314 single-family houses, the estate is the largest building project realised in association with the Bauhaus in Dessau. In the light of the housing shortage which prevailed in the 1920s, this much anticipated stimulus in the housing sector was one of the reasons that the mayor of Dessau, Fritz Hesse, so emphatically advocated the institutions move from Weimar to Dessau. The commission awarded to Walter Gropius architectural practice was coupled with high expectations - not only on the part of the Dessau authorities and the local population, but also in professional circles.
