Original 1st edition (1943) manuscript score of a selection of numbers from the musical 'The Lisbon Story' arranged for piano. Music composed by Harry Parr Davies, book (published simultaneously) and lyrics by Harold Purcell. 'The Lisbon Story' was a wartime spy thriller set in Lisbon and Paris during the summer of 1942, which was a great hit at the London Hippodrome when performed in 1943–44. Original cast included Noele ('Crossroads') Gordon. Adapted into a film in 1946. This selection includes the songs 'Pedro, The Fisherman' (the most popular song, later performed and recorded by artists including Richard Tauber, Gracie Fields and Julie Andrews), 'Someday We Shall Meet Again', 'Never Say Good-Bye', 'The Song Goes On', and at least 4 others.
