Text in Japanese and English. - Hosoban Benizurie Triptych - (Important Art Object) The composition of three hosoe on a horizontally oriented oban sheet is said to have been adapted from Japanese painting by Okumura Masanobu and Nishimura Shigenaga for urushie prints. The triptych format was most popular during the 1750's when three-color prints or benizurie predominated. Kiyohiro, who died prematurely, was a pupil of Torii Kiyomitsu (1735-1785). There is an almost identical triptych bearing the signature of the master, Kiyomitsu.
