This collection was first published by Macmillan in 1888 and includes material from juvenilia dated 1785 up to and including an ode composed in 1847. The introduction - comprising seventeen pages - was written by John Morley. There is a handsome etching, as frontispiece, of the poet in old age. This edition includes extensive notes - which seem to be by the poet himself - an appendix, prefaces, a bibliography and indexes.
