This is a nice reproduction of an original WWII photograph showing a US. 30 caliber machine gun, the Browning Model 1917, which is a water cooled variant of the 1919. The water cooled barrel allowed for longer periods of sustained fire, but added weight, making the 1917 more common in fixed positions than with infantry units, although it did still find itself being used in that role.
